Cycling in Suffolk
Suffolk has something to offer for every type of cyclist, it is no coincidence that Suffolk has held stages of the Tour of Britain and the Women’s Tour. Despite its mostly flat terrain, cycling in Suffolk caters to all abilities and all of it comes with a beautiful view. Whether you are looking for a group road ride, family off road bike rides through woods or ancient Roman tracks or a few days cycle touring through spectacular countryside, Suffolk has it all. At Doves Barn we are always happy to talk cycling and suggest rides, just get in touch!
Road Cycling
Road cycling (groups/clubs) – If you are looking for the ideal base for some social group rides, or you are looking to maximise a training block, Suffolk has the roads for you. Post ride you can maximise your recovery with some hot and cold therapy by using our ice tub followed by a relax in the 8 person hot tub. No trip to Doves Barn would be complete without a ride to the Maglia Rosso café in Hawkstead near Bury St Edmunds.
After your ride, you will find comfortable surroundings in the barn which is spacious and well furnished.
Family Cycling
Family Cycling – There are many wonderful traffic free routes/trails near Doves Barn. The Alton Water Circuit is just south of Ipswich and is an 8.5mile circuit around the reservoir with a café en route. Icknield Way is another of our favourites, an ancient trackway crossing southern England, and the King’s Forest Rides are two circular (mostly) off road rides that take you through forest, heathland and farmland.
Doves Barn offers the perfect facilities for your family cycling holiday. You will find cycling routes suitable for all abilities.
Cycle Touring
Cycle Touring – Suffolk’s quiet lanes are mostly flat and a delight to tour by bike. You are spoilt for choice when planning your cycle route, from some of the prettiest villages in England to Coastal cycle routes that pass through areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The best part is that quaint pubs and cosy cafes are never far away!
